The debate over the construction of Lucca’s new Porta Elisa stadium, a project that has raised many expectations, is still open. The confrontation between the parties involved reached a critical point with the Proponent Aurora Immobiliare learning, to its great surprise, of the resolution taken by the City Council, defining the final project submitted as not complying with the conditions set by the C.C. in the Declaration of Public Interest. Protocoled on May 12, 2023, the Final Project had been submitted to the City of Lucca, receiving an initial positive response, without then ever letting any critical issues emerge, either informally or officially, rather, with the manifest intention of wanting to pursue the process initiated. Instead, the project, a full 12 months later, receives this response, which was decidedly unexpected. Only a year later, in fact, the City of Lucca establishes a Commission to examine all the Final Project documents submitted, concluding with the above resolution and preventing momentarily, the start of the Decisive Services Conference. This twist surprised not only the public, but also Aurora Real Estate itself, which learned the news through a formal communication sent via PEC. Following this, Aurora Real Estate, issued a press release through the region’s major media outlets, setting out the company’s position in the face of this unexpected decision, with a thoughtful and detailed response that provides clarity on the critical points raised by the City Commission. Protecting the interests involved is now the Society’s priority. The Proponent company reiterates its willingness for the construction of the work, strengthened also by expressions of interest it has already received, and its desire to pursue a solution that meets the needs of the community and the interests of the parties involved.
