Caserta Stadium
The primary goal of the new Alberto Pinto Stadium is to create an urban catalyst through new forms and functions, transforming it from a structure limited to single sports events into a vibrant hub of activities throughout the week. The intervention proposal aims to establish a new urban hub capable of forming a direct relationship with the city’s fabric. It will serve as a new reference point for all sports activities connected to it, starting with football and including other support activities.
The new sports facility, set to replace the old 1936 structure designed with an athletics track according to the standards of the time, is conceived as an innovative entity capable of ensuring the highest functional and safety standards. The stadium is designed with a capacity of 12,000 seats, extendable to 16,000, all covered, divided into 4 sectors.
The facility’s design includes skyboxes, stages, and pitch views to enhance the experience of the sports event. It will feature a highly specialized medical center capable of supporting athletes and others in medical check-ups and recovery pathways, a gym for dedicated recovery training, and a wellness path. There will be a residence for youth sector players, a conference room usable every day of the week for activities other than football, offices, a museum of Casertana, and a sports library. Additionally, there will be a bar, restaurant, roof garden, and a baby parking area to best enjoy sports and extra-sports activities.
This redevelopment process aims to serve a fan base that is among the oldest in the national scene, acting as an incubator for activities and providing an impetus for the aesthetic redefinition of the entire urban context.
The renovation project, involving the demolition and reconstruction of the “Alberto Pinto Stadium” in Caserta, in line with FIFA-UEFA-CONI standards, is currently the first project in Italy to have completed the approval and awarding process through the use of the so-called Stadium Law (Law 147/2013 and subsequent amendments).
